CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on therapeutic technique that works with the body’s craniosacral system, which includes the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. CST aims to assess and optimize the movement of cerebrospinal fluid, which plays a critical role in maintaining central nervous system function, reducing inflammation, and promoting overall homeostasis. By applying light touch to specific areas, the practitioner can detect and release restrictions or imbalances within the craniosacral system, improving the flow of cerebrospinal fluid and supporting the body’s natural healing mechanisms. Research has shown CST to be effective in treating a variety of conditions, including migraines, tension headaches, chronic pain, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, and stress-related conditions. By enhancing the fluid dynamics and reducing restrictions within the craniosacral system, CST helps to regulate the autonomic nervous system, improve neural function, and promote deep relaxation and healing

The CranioSacral Process

What to Expect During Your First Craniosacral Therapy Session

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle yet powerful treatment that helps restore balance to the body by releasing tension and restrictions in the craniosacral system. Your first session is a time to connect, understand your unique needs, and begin the healing process. Here’s what you can expect:

1. Initial Consultation

We’ll start by discussing your health history, current symptoms, and wellness goals. CST takes a holistic approach, so I’ll ask about your physical health, emotional well-being, lifestyle, and stress levels to get a complete picture of what’s going on in your body. This consultation helps us tailor your treatment to support your body’s natural healing processes.

2. Gentle Hands-On Treatment

You’ll lie fully clothed on a comfortable massage table, and I’ll begin by using light touch (about the weight of a nickel) to assess your craniosacral system—which includes the bones of the skull, spine, sacrum, and surrounding tissues. The treatment involves subtle adjustments to release restrictions, restore balance, and encourage the free flow of cerebrospinal fluid.

Many people experience a sense of deep relaxation, warmth, gentle pulsing, or a feeling of tissues "unwinding" as the body shifts into a healing state.

3. Deep Relaxation & Energy Flow

As your body releases tension, you may enter a state of deep stillness—some clients even fall asleep. Others notice emotional releases, a sense of lightness, or energy movement as blockages dissolve. CST encourages the body to self-correct, bringing a sense of alignment and balance.

4. Post-Treatment Experience

After your session, you may feel relaxed, lighter, or more centered, with improvements in pain levels, mobility, sleep, and overall well-being. Some people notice changes immediately, while others experience gradual shifts over the next few days. It’s normal to feel a mix of relaxation and renewed energy as your nervous system integrates the treatment.

Treatment Frequency & Progress

CST works best with regular sessions, especially when addressing chronic pain, stress, trauma, or nervous system imbalances. Depending on your condition, I may recommend weekly or bi-weekly sessions at first, with adjustments as you progress.

At-Home Care

To extend the benefits of your CST session, I may suggest gentle exercises, mindfulness practices, or lifestyle adjustments to support your body’s healing process.
